School student eligibility for Skilled Capital
A reminder that school students must meet the following criteria to be eligible to enrol in a Skilled Capital training place:
- an Australian Citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand passport holder resident for more than six months, and
- at least 15 years of age, and
- living in the ACT, and
- undertaking a course of study leading to completion of year 12 in an alternative program, or
- have an Exemption Certificate and the selected Skilled Capital qualification is also an Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbA) pathway.
Training Providers must ensure evidence to support the assessment of student eligibility is collected prior to finalisation of enrolment.
This includes obtaining a copy of the Exemption Certificate (where applicable).
An Exemption Certificate is a certificate exempting a student (under the age of 17) from the full-time participation requirement in exceptional circumstances. For further information refer to the Education Directorate website or contact the Education Directorate on (02) 6205 3695 or by email to ExemptionCertificates@act.gov.au.
Please refer to the ACT Standards Compliance Guide For Skilled Capital for further information on student eligibility evidence requirements and the definition of finalisation of enrolment (refer to Enrolment - finalisation).
All enquiries relating to student eligibility can be emailed to Skills Canberra.
