Release of fully funded (fee-free) infection control and food handling training places

On 5 June 2020, Skills Canberra will release up to 3,800 fully funded (fee-free) Skilled Capital training places to support the accelerated uptake of accredited infection control and food handling training in response to the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.

Funded via the National Infection Control Training Fund, a joint Commonwealth and ACT Government initiative, the training places are available for customer-facing employees in any industry, with funding prioritised for workers in retail, tourism, transport and logistics, hospitality, cleaning and security services industries, and to increase infection control skill levels in sectors such as aged and disability care.

The Skilled Capital Qualification and Skill Set List - June 2020 (XLXS 3.49MB) or (PDF 170KB) has been updated to include the infection control and food handling Skill Sets, caps and funding amount. Please note the caps for these Skill Sets are indicative only and will be adjusted according to demand.

A new ACT Standards Compliance Guide for Skilled Capital - Infection Control Training (DOCX 1.42MB) or (PDF 1.22MB) has also been published with effect from 5 June 2020.

Registered training organisations seeking to enrol students in these training places from 5 June 2020 must agree to comply with the new ACT Standards Compliance Guide for Skilled Capital – Infection Control Training. A written response confirming agreement must be received by email to Skills Canberra by 5pm 3 June 2020.

All enquiries can be emailed to Skills Canberra.
