Free training under the ACT JobTrainer Fund

The ACT Government will invest $8.375 million in the new JobTrainer program, to be matched by the Australian Government, bringing total funding for free training places to $16.75 million.

JobTrainer will provide job seekers and young people, aged 17 to 24, with free vocational education and training, including full qualifications, pre-apprenticeships and online short courses.

Approximately 3,500 extra training places will be available in the ACT in key industries and occupations, including:

  • community services
  • healthcare
  • renewable energy and sustainability
  • digital and cyber security
  • construction
  • hospitality

JobTrainer is designed to complement other training available through existing ACT Government schemes, including User Choice and free infection control training.

Further information on student eligibility will be provided shortly.

When will the free training become available?

The first free JobTrainer places will be made available in October 2020.
